Girl/ Women Economic Empowerment

Empowering women and girls to fulfill their economic dreams.

In this program, YFC provides Vocational skills trainings and supports vulnerable girls and vulnerable married girls to start and manage Income Generating Activities at a village level. We identify and select the most vulnerable married girls and unmarried girls and train them and support them to start sustainable Income Generating Activities to improve their livelihoods. Vocational skills provided include; shoe making, hair dressing, tailoring, computer skills, motor vehicle mechanics, and smart agriculture, baking, apiary, and weaving. We also provide tools and start-up/seed capital to facilitate girls and vulnerable young women to start income
generating activities.

Our Approach

  • Entrepreneurship skills trainings. YFC train women and girls in financial literacy, simple accounting, saving and book keeping. Entrepreneurship skill trainings equip women and girls with competences they need to revamp or develop their own income generating activities.
  • Skilling / vocational skill trainings. Youth fraternity for change train girls and young women in hands on skills like hair dressing skill, tailoring skill, baking, hand crafts, re-usable sanitary pads, weaving and others.
  • Village saving and lending associations. Women are girls are trained on how to form groups and come together to pool their savings in a joint saving box. VSLAs help to break barriers to young women and girls’ financial inclusion, access to finance /credit and young women and girl’s economic empowerment.
